Super interesting colorway. Looks black from afar, but up close you can see lots of random color in the whiter areas. Look closely at the closeup photos.
Experience the timeless elegance of Japanese craftsmanship with this exquisite haori. Elevate your wardrobe with a touch of history and artistry that speaks to your classy but eclectic style.
This is a shibori dyed silk damask haori. A haori is a short coat normally worn over a kimono. Shibori is the japanese word for tiedye. This haori is lined with a silk fabric that has a wave design. The lining fabric does have some yellowing and some foxing. There are no spots, stains or flaws i can find on the outside silk, though.
Notice the smaller ties within the design. To me, that says older piece. The design, the execution. I believe this haori is from the 40’s to the 60’s, which makes it vintage.
There are kumihimo toes attached to the closures, andnthese are included withthisnpiece. They are hand woven from silk string, and again, the silver string areas point to an older piece. It os on amazing condition for that age.
Normally worn with kimonos, It can be worn over anything, though, or displayed as well. Or you can take it apart and use the silk fabric for your own project. (This haori should contain about 8 meters of silk.) Give it as a gift! Halloween costume!! Christmas party outfit!! So many options for using this artistic piece.
74 cms length
58 cms across body

This haori is vintage, and may have some flaws. Everything is sold ‘as is’. Ask questions if you need and look closely at the photos. I report everything as accurately as i can, but can miss small details.
