Antique Shop/Japanese Goods › Vintage Silk Shibori HAORI #3

Vintage Silk Shibori HAORI #3

$50.00

Subtle coral colorway. This haori is nice and long.

Experience the timeless elegance of Japanese craftsmanship with this exquisite haori. Elevate your wardrobe with a touch of history and artistry that speaks to your classy but eclectic style.

This is a shibori dyed silk damask haori. A haori is a short coat normally worn over a kimono. Shibori is the japanese word for tiedye. And damask is a type of weave which features patterns woven into the fabric, created by periodically reversing the warp and weft of the fabric while weaving it. This one has a geometric interlocking swastika design and flowers woven in.

This haori is lined with a silk damask fabric that has a stylized design. The lining fabric does have some yellowing and some foxing. There are no spots, stains or flaws i can find on the outside silk, though.

This haori also has a pair of kumihimo ties attached to the closures. They are exquisite, hand woven from silk string. They are included with the haori.

Normally worn with kimonos, It can be worn over anything, though, or displayed as well. Or you can take it apart and use the silk fabric for your own project. (This haori should contain about 8 meters of silk.) Give it as a gift! Halloween costume!! Christmas party outfit!! So many options for using this artistic piece.

82 cms length

61 cms across body

127 cms from sleeve tip to sleeve tip

54.5 cms sleeve length

569 grams

This haori is vintage, and may have some flaws. Everything is sold ‘as is’. Ask questions if you need and look closely at the photos. I report everything as accurately as i can, but can miss small details.
