Vintage Shibori Silk MICHIYUKI -Kimono Coat
This is a silk shibori michiyukii. It most likely dates from the middle to later twentieth century. Great condition!
This type of shibori dyeing is unusual and i must admit. I have no idea what the name is, or even how it is done. I only know it is a sewn shibori.
This michiyuki closes by snap. The snaps are sewn on inside, by hand. You can see them in some of the photos.
There is a silk lining inside part of the michiyuki, which you can see in the photos.
This could be worn over a kimono, as is intended. But it would also look stunning paired with your favorite outfit!! Even with jeans, an overcoat like this will change the entire ambiance to classic, yet bold!! The feel of the fabric is insanely luxurious and supple, with the raised texture from the shibori still remaining. It also smells great, a mixture of vintage book and delicate textile.
